The impart-whs approach

Caring for ourselves and each other

Impart-WHS is a set of solutions that assist leaders and their teams to develop or enhance a Workplace Health and Safety program to :

  • Identify and mitigate risks to human health and safety within workplaces, in order to assure that team members, third party providers, visitors and customers are never harmed.
  • Remove barriers to and openly foster great conversations, amongst the workforce and their leadership, to discover ways-of-working that are safer and less occupationally stressful.  
  • Ensure the efforts of governance, leadership, management, consultative forums, and assurance teams are working in an integrated way to mitigate risk and maximise the benefits.


The focus of the Impart-WHS program is to move beyond mere procedural compliance, to generate a just safety culture that empowers your leadership and workforce to be responsive to the day-to-day challenges of safe operations.

How to Impart-WHS

‘Improving the safety culture’ of an organisation is actually a multi-facetted investment in organisation-wide cultural and systemic change.  Impart-WHS uses well-established evidence-based change methodologies, so as to maximise the operational returns on this investment, through:

  • Clarifying what your critical WHS risk factors are, as a point of focus for governance and leadership.
  • Identifying the current process and cultural barriers to mitigating these critical WHS risk factors, and how best to remove or minimise them.
  • Framing a clear, shared WHS improvement mission and strategy focussed on the critical risk factors; which all leaders can confidently convey and promote to their teams.
  • Harnessing the cultural power of storytelling, endowing leaders and other equity champions with narratives of personal resonance.
  • Sharing insights as to why it is an imperative to change the culture.
  • Providing cultural context by explaining the journey so far and next milestones. 
  • Administratively support this work through sound procedural and communication solutions that promote and reinforce the mission.


To support day-to-day safe operations, leaders and managers must share a method of engaging with their workforce about WHS issues as they arise, which:

  • opens up a 360° conversation that respects the understanding team members have of their own work.
  • is inclusive, seeking insights and initiative from all who are involved.
  • proves an opportunity for everyone to contribute to safer ways of working.
  • generates mutual clarity regarding the issue, its impacts and the safer alternatives.
